Blastoff Network, "Houston, we have a problem"

Blastoff Network having issues.

Lack of ethics and common sense strikes again!

The Container Store has opted out of Blastoff Network after a spam attack by one Blastoff member to it’s Facebook page.

It seems that some overzealous unethical Blastoff rep decided it would be a good idea to post “Don’t buy from The Container Store, Buy from Blastoff” messages on the Facebook page of The Container Store in an effort to boost his/her own business. Repeated requests to cease posting these messages were ignored and, (as amazing at is sounds), The Container Store took offense and removed itself from the Blastoff Networks’ shopping mall.

This is the story the public has been told but is there more to this than meets the eye?

If Blastoff was really performing and driving business to The Container Store, would the antics of just one person cause them to bail on the whole program?

No! Of course not!

So what is the real story here?  I can only conclude that dealing with Blastoff was more trouble than it was worth, at least for The Container Store! But…..

The same can be said for WalMart.

More unethical garbage and misrepresented claims caused WalMart to break ties with Blastoff as well.

Again, the public story is that ONE Blastoff member put up there own marketing site and made some “outlandish claims” involving WalMart. Again, one ignorant unethical jerk could not jeopardize a business deal of this size.

Again, we’re not getting the whole story from the folks at Blastoff.

Rumors now are pointing toward iTunes following the lead of WalMart and The Container Store and bailing out of the Blastoff Network.

If Blastoff follows form I’m sure that this too will be blamed on one persons overzealous antics.

So, if they’re not telling us the whole story here, what might be the real underlying issue?

In my opinion,

The problem lies with the way Blastoff is conducting itself.

Blastoff has, from the beginning, condoned poor behavior. They started out by spamming themselves over Facebook, Twitter and anywhere else they could find a foothold on the internet.

They created their very own spam email engine for their reps to use and are now tweaking that system to get around your email spam filters.

Now they are trying to cover up for the very antics that they themselves encouraged!

Blastoffs’ choice to go the unethical route has already generated a tainted pubic reputation. Companies are starting to pull out of the Blastoff mall to protect their own reputations and I’m sure that we have only seen the beginning of exodus.

There is precedent for this!

If you remember, earlier this year, a company called iJango started out in very much the same way.

A massive spam attack, unethical behavior, unsubstantiated claims, etc…..

In short order they got the boot from LinkShare, earned an “F” rating from the Better Business Bureau and had Google’s trademark people knocking on their door for unfounded claims of a partnership.

And, (just like Blastoff), they tried to blame all their problems on ONE person.

So far, it appears that Blastoff will shortly go the way of countless other “online shopping mall” models that have come before it.

Join the m.. http://bit.ly/i0xbu

And if you believe that I’ve got a great deal for you on a piece of beach front property in Arizona!

It looks like we’re in for another round of “community shopping portal/toolbar” internet schemes that think they can hype up enough traffic to make it work. And hey, maybe they can. After all, anything is possible! Right?

According to the spammers on Twitter this morning…..

Blastoff! and facebook just merged 23oct, twitter has to
know, b/c they haven't been invited over to join the
BLASTOFF network yet, dunno???
BLASTOFF NETWORK justlaunched, will b bigger than
Google & Facebook, FREE,EASY,SAVE $, MAKE$,Join now

With any luck, this one will be over with shortly. Blastoffs spam attack isn’t nearly as well organized as iJango’s a few weeks back and the Facebook merger claim was debunked weeks ago.

Spam Is Not Rocket Fuel! Blastoff Network Spam Attack is Underway

Stop Spam

Stop Spam

I should have know.

I just got my in boxes cleaned out from the last spam attack, (iJango), and here comes another one.

In the past 12 hours I’ve received 35 unwanted invitations to join “blastoffnetwork.com”.

Blastoff is making noises very much like those made by iJango.

It’s Free!

It’s Fun and You Can Make Money!

It’s All About the timing!

It’s gonna be Bigger Than Facebook! Bla, Bla, Bla..

The short story on Blastoff is that it’s a shopping portal that offers commissions to it’s members. Another online community with a comp plan.

The real surprise is the company behind Blastoff! Pre Paid Legal Services!

You would think a company that deals in legal services would at least try to avoid breaking the law.

Well, apparently not! Or perhaps they have forgotten the penalties that spamming can provoke. Such as fines upward of $10,000 per mail message, (That’s $350,000.00 just from the emails I got today)!

From a brief look at their plan, this looks like a pyramid scheme!

Hey guys, I’m not interested in blasting off with you so stay out of my in box will ya!
